FLAVORED HOT POPCORN

Sunday, January 24, 2016

I really love making popcorn at home (well, actually what I really love is eating them). Watching a movie under a soft blanket is not the same without some popcorn! Of course, you can do your flavored popcorn with almost anything (caramel, chocolate, lime and parsley…).

FLAVORED POPCORN

I am gonna show you the ones I usually make:

What you will need:

3 tablespoons butter
A mix of:
            Cayenne
            Hot Chili
            Pepper
            Zest of a lime
            Salt
125 gr (4 oz) popped plain popcorn

Melt butter and add the mix of spices in small saucepan. Stir well.

Place  popped popcorn in a large bowl and drizzle the mixture over the top, and stir stir stir!

Now, the only thing you need is a good movie!!

Enjoy!

HOMEMADE CHILI CON CARNE

Sunday, January 17, 2016

Hi everyone!

For the very first post, I wanted to do something special and, most important, something that makes me happy in the dark winter Sundays. I really love the taste of the spices that warms me these days. Plus, the chili is the best remedy for hangovers!

Everyone have their own way to make chili con carne, so I will tell you mine.

CHILI CON CARNE. Serves 4

600 gr (1.3 pounds) ground beef meat
1 can red kidney beans
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
1 chicken stock
1 canned crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon oregano
1 pinch of pepper
½ tablespoon hot chili powder
1 cup of water
Salt

Instructions

1. Place a casserole-type pan on a high heat and add the olive oil. In the meantime, chop the onion and garlic. Add the vegetables and stir well for 2 or 3 minutes.

2. Add the ground beef to the casserole and cook it for around 8 minutes. When the meat is done, add the drained kidney beans, cumin, pepper, chili, oregano, chicken stock and the canned crushed tomatoes. Stir well for 1 or 2 minutes and add the cup of water.

3. Bring to the boil and turn the heat down to a simmer with a lid slightly askew for about an hour, stirring every now. If needed, add more salt and spices.

At this point, you have a lot of choices to serve:

1-      With a bowl of soft rice
2-      Sometimes I put it in an oven pan, add a lot of cheddar cheese on the top. Heat it for 10 minutes and is simply delicious with nachos!
3-      With tacos. Fill the tacos with chili con carne and add diced tomatoes, cheese and lettuce

Hope you enjoy it!
